Storage Activities
Version: 1.0.5 · ID: zoan-packages-storage · Author: Zoan Software
The Storage package lets a robot save and retrieve files in Zoan Cloud Storage: a cloud file space, specific to each environment, shared by processes, AI assistants and people in the portal. It is useful to leave a report generated by the robot where others can find it, to pass a file from one process to another (even if they run on different machines), or to share a document with a temporary link.
Buckets, names and folders
Section titled “Buckets, names and folders”- Storage is organized in buckets (containers). Every environment always has a
defaultbucket, which the activities use when you don’t set another one. Buckets are shown and managed in the Storage menu of Zoan Cloud (see Storage). - If you upload a file to a bucket that doesn’t exist yet, it is created automatically. A bucket name accepts letters, digits, dot, underscore and hyphen (up to 120 characters).
- Each file is identified by its
idor by thebucket+namepair. The name can include folders separated by/, for examplereports/2026/sales.xlsx. - A bucket can be marked as read-only (no uploads or deletes) or audit downloads (every download link is recorded in the audit log).
- Zoan Cloud reserves some buckets for internal use (for example, the one holding the files people attach when answering a task): the Storage activities neither read nor write them, and respond as if they didn’t exist.
How the robot authenticates
Section titled “How the robot authenticates”You don’t need credentials. The activities use the execution identity that Zoan Cloud gives the robot, and that identity already determines the tenant and environment: a robot only sees the files of the environment where it runs and cannot read another environment’s files.
The file reference
Section titled “The file reference”Upload Storage File and List Storage Files return file references with this shape:
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
id | string | File id (UUID). Use it to reference the file in the other activities. |
bucket | string | Bucket where it lives. |
name | string | Name inside the bucket, including its folders. |
size | number | Size in bytes. |
content_type | string | Content type Zoan Cloud detected from the file’s bytes (e.g. application/pdf). |
created_at | string | Creation date (ISO 8601, UTC). |
Activities
Section titled “Activities”| Activity | Type | Output | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upload Storage File | storage-upload-file | object | Uploads a local file to a bucket |
| Download Storage File | storage-download-file | string | Downloads a file from the bucket to a local path |
| List Storage Files | storage-list-files | List<Dictionary<string, object>> | Lists the files in the environment or in a bucket |
| Get Storage File URL | storage-get-file-url | string | Returns a temporary download link |
| Delete Storage File | storage-delete-file | — | Deletes a file from the bucket |
When Zoan Cloud rejects an operation
Section titled “When Zoan Cloud rejects an operation”The activity message includes the operation, the HTTP status and the server response, for example:
“Could not download the file: Zoan Cloud GET /internal/storage/files/url failed: HTTP 404: {“error”:{…,“message”:“File not found in this environment.”}}”
The response message tells you the cause. Each activity page lists the usual cases under Common errors. All of these errors can be caught with Try / Catch.
A typical flow
Section titled “A typical flow”One process generates a report and leaves it in storage; another process, on another machine, downloads it to work with it:
// Process AUpload Storage File path = "C:/reports/sales.xlsx" bucket = "reports" name = "2026/sales.xlsx" → output: file
// Process BDownload Storage File bucket = "reports" name = "2026/sales.xlsx" destination = "C:/work/sales.xlsx" → output: pathNext steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Upload Storage File — the starting point.
- Get Storage File URL — share a file with a temporary link.
- Storage in Zoan Cloud — manage buckets from the portal.
